Abusive Mothers

A fetus is a living being
So fragile and helpless
Depending on their mothers to provide,
To nourish, and to protect them from danger

So why do mothers abuse these beings?
Why do they drink, smoke, and use drugs?
Do they not see what a beautiful being they are creating?
Don't they want to give their being a chance to have a flourishing life?

Mothers are loving, caring, and affectionate
Or are they?
Some mothers choose not to be
Some mothers are selfish and choose their wants over their fetuses needs

Drugs and alcohol are addicting
But should a mothers fetus be more important to her?
Not always

Death
Aren't children supposed to out live their parents?
Not when the mother abuses substances

  1. I agree with your poem 100%. It was really inspiring to me and it is a really significant issue. It was also beautifully put with a strong meaning and voice. I like your choice of topic since it is so relevant and with much controversy today. Maybe you can add in what the other side thinks then tell why it is wrong thinking. Great job!

  2. WOW!!!!! What a powerful and moving poem. It real states a clear point about abusive mothers. In reality society does not realize some mothers choice to take wrong paths and take on abusive behaviors, e.g., drinking and somking. Society makes us believe every mother is a loving mother, but the reality is that abusive mothers do exist. :(
